Gertrude Mae (Wilson) Usmial, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, MI passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at her home. Gertrude was born on December 31, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of Henry and Irene (Clare) Wilson. She married Edward Usmial on December 18, 1970. Ed preceded her in death on May 4, 1996. Gertrude worked for 18 years for Baxter Laundry, twelve years for Prosperity Laundry and for several years for Applewood Assisted Living, retiring when she was seventy years old. She lived in Muskegon for many years before moving back to Mt. Pleasant.
Survivors include her brother, Claire and Bonnie Wilson of Mt. Pleasant, and sisters Angeline McBride of Oil City and Lucille Chishlom of Midland along with many nieces and nephews. Family members preceding her in death include her husband, both parents, a brother Alvin Wilson and four sisters: Beatrice Turner, Helen Servess, Arlene Crouch and Geraldine Esch.
Funeral services for Gertrude will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Haymaker of the Maranatha Baptist Church officiating. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions in Gertrude’s memory may be made to the Isabella County Soup Kitchen. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
